Sports injuries surgery has become an increasingly common alternative for those who wish to continue the pursuit of their passion, both professional and amateur. Most common sports injuries take to two forms, overuse or low impact injuries and traumatic or high impact injuries. The difference is in the type of damage that occurs to the body and the type of activity that causes each form of injury. Injuries can occur during any type of sport or exercise for any number of reasons generally though overuse injuries occur during low impact sports that require a constant and repetitive motion such as golf, tennis and running, these are also known as repetitive stress injuries. Conversely traumatic sports injuries occur during high impact sports such as rugby, ice hockey and soccer. Sports injury surgeries have advanced exponentially over the previous two decades and can now deal with and treat most injuries sustained through sport using non-invasive and often simple sports injury surgeries.
Perhaps the most common candidates for sports injury surgeries are those that partake in high impact sport at an amateur or club level and lack the proper side line and after match support that professional sports teams have. Most sports clubs have a dedicated team of medical professionals, but their services are stretched thin and in a club with multiple teams individuals often aren’t given the type of attention they need. Any sportsman or woman knows that warming up and warming down again are as essential as practicing skill and fitness training. Damage to ligaments and muscles most commonly occurs when the body starts an intensive bout of exertion without first having had the chance to slowly warm up and stretch the necessary muscles and ligaments. This is a necessary part of both low and high impact sports, strain can occur when doing something as seemingly simple as bouncing a ball against a wall.
Too often in social and amateur leagues players arriving late for a match will run onto the field, under the false assumption that because the game is social or fun that proper warm up is not required. This can be a serious error in judgment and will more often than not, if the player is serious about their sport, result in sports injury surgeries. Professional sports men and woman have teams dedicated to monitoring their health and fitness if they start placing too much strain on their bodies they are told and given a series of exercises to minimize the strain or build strength in the affected area. Amateur sports men and women do not have this luxury and that is why they are becoming increasingly common candidates for sports injury surgeries.
Recent advances in modern medicine have meant that sports injury surgeries have become less invasive and more effective. Turn-around time on recovery has shortened and the lasting impact of the sports injury surgeries themselves is less noticeable.
